JUDGE JACK A. GRIESENBECK. Bastrop County Judge and President of the Texas Association
of Regional Councils is shown with Mayor Tom Bradley of Los Angeles, California, at the National
Association of Regional Councils Convention in Los Angeles, California. The Texas Delegation was
headed by Judge Griesenbeck.
One of the highlights of the Convention was the "Tribute to Tom Bradley" Banquet in the
Biltmore Bowl at the old Biltmore Hotel in downtown Los Angeles. Tom Bradley had served as
President of the National Association of Regional Councils in 1971 and 1972. lit' has been one of the
Nation's leaders in Regionalism, and in its application to local governments. Mayor Bradley was
born in the Elmo Community near Calvert, Texas in Robertson County, and is proud of his Texas
background.
Judge Griesenbeck, acting as President of TARC, presented Mayor Bradley a Texas cattleman's
hat; and, acting for Governor Dolph Briscoe, presented him with a Commission in the Texas Navy as
an Admiral.
Mrs. Griesenbeck accompanied Judge Griesenbeck on the trip.

Seems that the Hicks and
('hicks are finally recovering
from the fabulous weekend in
Mexico with the Woodstackers
fron. Elgin. They danced in Del
Km for a beginning and then
crossed the border and danced
in a bull ring (minus the bull) . .
thu> is all done as a means of
being eligible for fun badges
In square dancing there are
many ways to earn fun badges
and the number is numerous.
Square dancing is known to be
fun for the family, and many
times it is by doing those silly
things that you haven't done
since you were a teenager that
earns a badge. Sometimes the
choice of words and the inter
pretations of the choice of
words is confusing to the
reader, but if you don't square
dance, you probably wouldn't
understand anyway Those
who do square dance in the
Hicks and Chicks enjoy the
dancing, the fine fellowship of
friends and the open, clean
minds of the dancers. We try to
keep our minds between the
top of the head and the top of
the shoulders, because every
thing that is called comes from
the mouth of the caller. This is
the one time that troubles are
left on the outside as there is
not time to think of anything
except what is being called for
the dance. Hicks and Chicks art-
growing by It.'|i', and bounds,
and we are noted for our
hospitality and friendliness to
all of t lie o! her clubs, and for
this we are very proud. We
want everyone who visits our
club to feel welcome and to
know that even if they don't
dance quite as well as they
would like to dance, t hey are
weicome in any square formed
in the club. Everyone has to
learn and we are glad to help.
Those attending the Ited
Baron club in Austin on Tues-
day evening were Phil and Liz
Lester, Gary and Linda Crain,
Jerry and Carol Neef, Cindy
Dickinson, Margaret Pfeiffer,
Bill and Pal Grube, Mac and
Elsie Ross and Clyde and
Dorothy Leisman. All reported
a fine time.
Elgin was the scene of t he
dance held on Saturday eve
ning. Woodstackers had their
regular monthly dance with
five squares attending. Hicks

The new name for United Gas
A company begins. It grows and changes.
And sometimes it grows so much that
it needs a new name.
United Gas has grown that much. And we
have a new name. Entex.
Entex stands for the same dependable service
United Gas did. But more of it. In more areas, such as in
natural resource exploration and development and other
essential services.
Entex is a futuristic name. Because we're
looking forward to our future.
With natural gas.
And with you.
ENIEX
A great name in your future.
