What exactly is Southwest Airlines doing
to the Love Field Master Plan!
If Southwest Airlines has its way, the Love Field Master Plan will
become a worthless scrap of paper. Southwest's plan allows Love
to expand dramatically to serve all fifty states. And the plan is
Congress exempted Missouri from the Wright Amendment. As a
result, daily departures from Love will grow from 125 to 149 flights.
Adding just one state means a 20% increase in air traffic. More jets,
more pollution, more traffic.
And it means the end of the Love Field Master Plan. A plan that
limits the number of gates at Love. It's meant to protect the quality
of life in Love Field neighborhoods. Southwest agreed to the plan.
Now they're working tirelessly to undermine it.
As Southwest expands service at Love, others will follow. In fact,
American has already announced 14 new flights from Love.
If service to one more state has this much impact, service to all
states is unthinkable.
Southwest shouldn't be allowed to destroy the Master Plan along with
Love Field neighborhoods, homes, schools and businesses. Southwest can
fly anywhere it likes from DFW, and that's a plan everyone can live with.
Maybe you agree. Maybe you don't. But we want to hear your side.
We'll publish it exactly the way you write it (just follow a few common-
sense rules). Show us your plan at www.dallasblog.com.
