The best rain we have had fell on the 16thand 17th.
1 1/2 inches.
-We had no services at the Presbyterian church yesterday
on account of the High School Baccalaureate
sermon at the Baptist church in which all the chnrchei
united. The night services were also given to the
Red Cross addressat the St.John's Meth. Church where'
over $1500 was raised for the Rdd Cross, our quota
being $1000. We expect to raise it to $2000 before 4
the drive is ended. Rev.J.W.Hearon preached and i
addressed at the two services, and I served freely-:in
the music line,we being the only two preachers in4ei
city during the whole day. a
Gaines B.Hall asked me to preach for him at
Anson that day as he was called to the bedside of-his
mother who is not expected to live. At first I thot IV
would go but was persuaded not to on account of the
Carrie Williams, who has been iin China a little
over two years, came to Stamford Thursday to visit
some of her friends at the Sanitanium with whom she hi
gone to school in Austin, leaving Saturday morning
with the hopes of coming back with her mother and '
locating here in the near future. Of course I was J
delighted to think they might come as it will be
quite an addition to our church to have them.
We have a sand storm blowing today which is rapidly
nullifying the splendid rain of last week.
