Eliasville,Texas. Ia!r.25, 1919. Tues.
Abundance of rain has fallen in the past week. The
river is booming and the ground is once more soaked to
the utmost df its capacity. Papa's corn and ,millet are
slow to come up this spring, but as soon as the sun shines
and warms the ground it will likely come right out and grv
rapidly. Yesterday I grubbed up a small Live-Oak tree
with a tremendously big root and set it out in the place
where the cellar.used to be,and soaked it with water. If
it grows I shall try others later
p.lErhaps next year.
We got 'ugh's letter yesterday telling us of the bookings
of the boys who are to leave Europe for U.S. ;by July First,
and of the fact that neither of you are booked. We are
getting a letter off in today's mail to the Adjutant General
requesting Jake's return. I am also enclosing with that
letter signed affidavits of papa's need of Jake's help on
the farm, signed by all the neighbors I couls catch before mail
time. I r.T7ill Donnell signed it before reading it and then
afterwards read-it. If I had it in Graham I could get
hundreds of signers I'm aure.
