Dear Polks at home, ---.Yesterda
was another rather full day.
It was Christian Stewardship Day in our ohurch
and after preaobing a sermon on that subject the
officers were organized for the every member
canvass for bnevolence, which was taken between
1 and 4 yesterday afternoon. Total amount raised
about *1,000.00 besides pastors salary and local
expenses whioh is upward of 2,00. O OQ, aking a
total budget of more than ,00 0.00 for the year
I think the benevolent contribution Tw11 be larger
by the end of the year as some of the members did
not want to pledge until they oould see further
into their financial oonditiof fob the coming year.
Atd oS look the Gainesville Choral Society
rendered teseaorea cantata "Ruth .whioh tired me
oonsiderably,as there are several heavy ohoruses
with hith tenor part. At church last night I was
almost worn out from the strain.
The church is settling down to its natural
stridenow I think There is a fine spirit of cooperation
here **, and quite a number of those who
.bad been laying out are (etting interested and are
c oming regularly.
The C.'Eoonvention of the Sherman District
will meet in Sherman next Briday to Sunday, and a
few of our members are to go over. I am to lead
the singing and will get my entertainment free and
perhaps my R.Rfare. It will be a good chance to
visit Jake and B.G.. We expect to hav e them come
over again with the Glloaing up the
church last week and they certainly deserve a
heap of credit for the way they worked. They suregiJ
have a live bunch of ladies in the Auxilliary.
Will have to stop,
Love 6o all of you
Here’s what’s next.
