C. V. BITTERN KERN,
FOR SHERIFF OF HARRIS COUNTY, TEXAS.
As an attorney I have had more tha. the usual opportunity to know Intimately
and professionally, the three canditates for sheriff of Harris County,
Therefore, I am EMPHATIC in telling you that ray choice is C. Y. Buster Kern,
Buster Kern has th© ability, the honesty, the courage and the complete know-how to
make Harris County a great sheriff.
Mien I was newsboy on the streets of Houston, I knew Buster Kern and looked
up to him when he was a rooke detective. All the boys in my group and in groups all
over *the city and county watched with awe the corageous and brilliant exploits of
Buster Kern in the field of law enforcement. He became my ideal and the ideal of
hundreds of other boys just as baseball heroes became the idols of the knot-hole gang.
I cam© up as a preffesional man at just about the same time Buster Kern
really began hitting his stride as one of the outstading detectives and all-round
law enforcement officers in the entire country.
As a member of the Harris County Bar Association I have continued to admire
Bmster Kern was baptized into law enforcement back in the dkys of the gangsters,
back in the days of the roving bandits and murddres— He made it rough for such
natioanlly notorious public Enemies as Raymond Hamilton— Clyde Barron and Bonnie
Parker— Bob Silver—-—- The Keggie Jones gang Schil© Scrivenor and many
others-—— Many of these desperadoes, after being captured, admitted that Buster
Kern was the one law enforcement officer they feared—-——They knew he could outsmart
them——And he did in may cases——Those deperadoes tried to keep a safe distance
between themselves and Buster Kern.
Buster Kern also solved many puzzling murders through shear brilliance of
brain work—-—-—The newspapers and fellow officers praised his work. He was
commended by no less than J. Edgar Hoover, chief of the F. B. I.
I want you people to know th t as an attorney, I can vouch for Buster Kern!s
capacity as an executive—-——Few officers have the combiatrfion of executive and
enforcement know how——Buster Kern has worlds of both.
Buster Kern knows the extradition laws———He knows the legal loop
holes an officer must be on the alert for——During my experience as an attorney
I have never seen a lawyer or anybody put anything over C. ¥. Bus tern Kern——and
I think I am sa e in saying that the district attorney will tell anyone that when
Buster Kern presents a case to him— that case is in order.
Here’s what’s next.
