duce sorghum into Europe as early
as 17#6, but not receive
much attention until 1851, when
a French consul at Shanghai sent

some of this seed was obtained
from France by the United
States Patent oflloe, and distrit>-

uted twenty-five thousand peck-
with asphalt pavement. The street
