THE ISSUL
The State Department of Public Welfare is proposing amend-
ments to its rules concerning non-public assistance food
stamps. The amendments are intended to clarify existing ap-
plication procedures and to specify the time within which
eligibility decisions must be made by DPW staff.
In other action, DPW has adopted amendments to its rules out-
lining income and benefits to be disregarded in determining
eligibility for the Aid to Families with Dependent Children Pro-
gram.
The Comptroller of Public Accounts has adopted a state sales
tax rule regarding tax-exempt organizations. The rule includes
definitions of exempt organizations and procedures for obtain-
ing exempt status. Also adopted is a rule pertaining to the ren-
tal and lease of taxable items in the state.
