It wa* known hy the Senior claw*
that Mi** Griffith'* birthday wa* !a*t
week, hut aa both teacher* aud pupil*
were *o htisy in getting ready for the
School Fair, the Senior* decided to
wait uutlt a more opportune time.
On Wednesday, after the youug peo-
ple had obtained permission from Mix*
Wiiliauiaoii, the Home Economics
teacher, to have the aprcad in the
Mchool dining room, tbey proceeded to
carry out their plana. On Wednesday
morning. Ml** Griffith visited the Cen-
tral ScIhioI ami retnalued most of the
forenoon, going to the High School
JiiNt in time to hear her class belbre
noon. Tlii* made it very easy for the
girl* ami ls y* to get everything in
read I tie** and they need not have tak-
en the precaution of locking the dining-
room door.
When school waa dismissed for the
noon hour, and Mi** Griffith was re-
turning to her ofTlce from the cla*a
room, one of the senior ^iri* followed
her up the stairway and told her that
Ml** Williamson wauled her a mo-
ment. When Mi** Griffith turned and
entered the kitchen of the Home Econ-
omic* department and caught a glimpse
of the long table, with the Senior* and
High School Faculty lined up ou each
aide, and then heard the Senior "Yell"
of Welcome, she wa* *o confused and
bewildered that she had to be told
where to go and what to do.
The meal was *erved cafeteria *tyle.
and perliap* no half hour during the
whole year that is past was more en-
Joyed by lioth pupils ami teachers than
wa* this one Wednesday noon.
At the riose of the repast the Seniors
gave Miss <iriffith a beautiful potted
plant .together with their love and
kiudest wishes.
The Seniors, thirty-seven in number,
aud their teachers are beginning to
realise that their associations of pu-
pils and teachers will soon end: ami
it was a happy thought that prompted
these youug people to bring the facul-
ty and class so closely together for oue
happy little hour.
The favors were white and yellow
crepe rose* made by wane of the mcm-
Iters of the class. Just before separa-
tion, Miss GrliNtb called the Seniors
around her and thanked theui from her
heart for their kindness aud thought-
fulness for her. She told them that
tbelr cake was sweeter and the lemon-
ade had a better flavor because love
was in it.
