319th MI Men
Presented Safe
Driving Awards
Seventy-two men of the 319th
Military Intelligence Battalion
were recently presented "Safe
Driving" awards.
The presentations were made
by Lt. Col. Robert G. Schaefer
commander.
In making the presentations
Col. Schaefer said that the
awards were not merely a sticker
for the bumper of an automobile
"but should be compared to a
dividend paid for the greatest
possession you have—the saving
of lives."
He added that the dividend re
ceived was of the highest value
in that the driver has preserved
not only his life and property but
the lives and property of his fam
ily and others.
Capt. Robert F. Scott of Head
quarters and Headquarters Com
pany was presented the award
for five years safe—driving.

SANTA GOES TO GERMANY—Orphans of the St. Hildegard's Home for Children in Bingen Ger
many receive gifts from Santa Claus during a hristmas party provided by the 2d Quartermaster
Battalion 2d Armored Division while stationed in Germany. The Quartermaster Battalion has

2d AD Units
Cager Leagues
The races in both 2d Armored
Division basketball leagues have
tightened as the last undefeated
team has gone under.
In the National League the
41st Infantry finally lost a
game after winning six in a
row this year and 31 over a
two year span losing to the
second place 50th Infantry
30-29. After this loss the 41st
reeled off two wins to bring
their season's record to 8-1.
The 50th is 7-1.
In the American League the
51st Infantry and the 17th En
gineers are battling for the top
spot with the Infantrymen hold
ing a slight half game bulge
with a 9-1 record compared to the
Engineers 8-1. Both teams went
undefeated through seven games
of the season and when they met
the Engineers paced by Ronald
Horn's 46 points won 69-64 to take
a temporary lead. However third
place Troops knocked them back
to second beating the Engineers
64-52.
