Many years ago, George
Bernard Shaw said, "The courage
to, rage and kill is cheap. My
bulidog has it, but he lets the
groom beat him all the same."
Military courage may not be pre-
cisely "cheap," but it certainly
seems less fine than the behavior
of what Carnegie called "the
heroes of civilization." It is one
thing to go over the top with the
band playing—metaphorically, at
least — and another to go over
alone. without incentive outside
of the job that is to be done and
without thought of glory.—Chai-
ning Pollock in Cosmopolitan Mag-

Stomach Gas
So Bad Seems
To Hurt Heart
"The gas on my stomach was so bad
I could not eat or sleep. Even my
heart seemed to hurt. A friend sug-
gested Adlerika. The first dose I took
brought me relief. Now I eat as I
wish, sleep fine and never felt better."
—Mrs. Jas. Filler.
Adlerika acts on BOTH upper and
lower bowels while ordinary laxatives
act on the lower bowel only. Adlerika
gives your system a thorough cleans-
ing, bringing out old, poisonous matter
that you would not believe was in your

pains, sour stomach, nervousness and

Or standing long an oak, three

To fall a log at last, dry, bald
and sear:
A lily of a day
Is fairer in May,
Although it fall and die that

In small proportions we just
beauties see,
And in short measures life may

Ragout of String Beans.
Chop six slices of bacon, put in
frying pan and fry out. Add 1 cup-
ful of chopped onions and brown
five minutes. Add 1 quart of boil-
ing water and one pound of string
beans and cook for twenty min-
utes. Add one pound of potatoes,
cut in half, and cook until done!
Add salt and pepper when nearly
done. A nice variation is to add
a cupful of tomatoes with the
beans.
