We Salute Three
Miss Aliece Anderson, economics teacher, brought a
teaching career spanning 45 years to a close as the se-
mester ended. She has seen many changes in the teach-
ing profession during these years, especially in matters of
salary and the physical school plants.
Miss Anderson taught in a number of East Texas schools
before coming to Thomas Jefferson 26 years ago. She
has taught in all fields of social studies, but economics is
her specialty. For several years she served as group chair-
man and coordinated the work of homeroom teachers in
her group. She also served as director of student activities
for two years.
Miss Anderson is a graduate of the University of Texas
and Colorado State College. She is a member of Delta
Kappa Gamma, the Social Studies Council, and Texas
State Teachers Association.
Mr. Willie G. Jones, director of the Industrial Arts Depart-
ment and chief printer for the schools, decided at the be-
ginning of the year to take early retirement. Mr. Jones
had been a member of the Jefferson faculty for 39 years.
He is a graduate of Sam Houston State.
