Tax Officers to Visit
All Businesses Shortly
The following letter sent to our office by Bob Bullock Comptroller of
Public Accounts is self-explanatory please read it very carefully as
this applies to you
Dear Ms Bolger
In the next few months, tax officers from my office will be paying a
visit to every business in Texas. Our goal in this effort is to inform each
taxpayer what is required of him by law to give him assistance he may
need and to answer all of his questions fully We also hope to check
each business to see that everyone has the proper up>to-date permits
These personal visits should give the businessman and woman a
chance to get to know the people from our office with whom they deal,
they should also allow for the early detection and correction of tax-
payer problems before they become big ones
This undertaking is a big one and we need your help so that
maximum benefits to the taxpayer can be realized If you receive any
calls from your members about these visits be sure to reassure them
that we are there to help A small notice in your publication explaining
the nature of the upcoming visit would also be helpful
We are grateful for your help and if you have any questions about
this project don t forget to call us on our toll free Tax Information Line
