DORA MAR WONG
CAN COLOR YOU FOR ALL SEASONS
1!
by Sandra Wong Der Bing
Do you have clothing, accessories or makeup you sel-
dom wear for some unexplained reason? Could it be that
something about them just isn't right?
Dora Mar Wong, a stand out in any crowd, exemplifies
color and fashion co-ordination in her personal appear-
ance. An independent certified color consultant, Dora
can help answer these questions by creating a wardrobe
and look that is flattering and functional for any in-
dividual .
Color analysis is a concept that originated from the
Bauhaus School in Germany, where artists there studied
the color harmony of the four seasons (Winter, Summer,
Spring and Fall). This concept later passed on to
schools of design and fashion. Dora explains "color
consulting is a procedure that is based upon a person's
genetic color harmony. I analyze a person's skin tone,
hair color and eye color and type them into nature's
scheme of Summer, Spring, Winter and Fall. Color is
based on what you have naturally and the correct colors
will enhance it."
A color analysis Consulatation by Dora was demonstra-
ted on this writer and I discovered that my wrong colors
and my correct colors definitely made a difference. The
wrong colors on me made my skin appear dull, made me
appear tired and older. The correct colors made my skin
glow with the look of good health and a state of well
being. Dora emphasized that the correct makeup colors
are also very important.
"First impressions say a lot about a person," says
Dora, "if there is a bad first impression it could be
very hard to overcome. People want to better themselves
both professionally and personally, and color analysis
definitely is a key in helping a person look successful
while they succeed. There is a definite benefit as one
learns to coordinate a wardrobe that enhances that
person. When one knows what colors enhance them, they
will save time and money when shopping for clothing or
makeup."
Color analysis is for men and women, and with today's
competitive job market, the correct color and look on a
person makes a lasting impression.
Dora stated "if one had a room full of equally quali-
fied people interviewing for a job, what other criteria
would the employer use to select the applicant? The
personal appearance of an individual may strongly be the
winning factor. Colors can make or break you and if you
are not in your correct colors, you will not be the focus
of attention."
Dora's clients have included attorneys, doctors, stock
brokers, real estate firms and department stores where she
gives demonstrations and seminars.
In October, by personal invitation, Dora will be giving
a color analysis seminar to the Women's Junior League of
Houston.
Along with color analysis, Dora specializes in closet/
wardrobe analysis. She analyzes an individual's closet
and teaches the client how to complement the wrong color
clothing with the individuals correct colors through
accessories to enhance an outfit. She is also a personal
shopper for clients; and is a fashion consultant.
A 1980 Business Technology graduate from the Univer-
sity of Houston, Dora is married to Albert Lloyd Wong,
and architect.
