were well attended at the Gilgal Bap
tist church and the A. M. E. church
Sunday. The Rev. Howard and Rev.
Prince were at their posts of duty.

Carter for some few weeks returned
to Waco Sunday. Mr. Robert Davis
and his little daughter returned from
Oklahoma last week. Mrs. Ella West
of Ganse spent a few days here this
week. The Willing Workers club
was entertained at Mrs. Carrie Wil-
liams last week. Rt v. G. W. String-
fellow spent a few days at last week.

The meeting of the Ladies Culture
club at the residence of Mrs. Jas.
Grener was perhaps the most enjoy-
ble of the club year. The demon-
strating by the Domestic Science de-
partment under the supervision of
Mrs. C. H. Mayes was highly bene-
ficial. The sick committee reported
several eick persons in the communi-
ty. A donation of money was sent
to Mr. Charley Moore. The hostess
served a dainty menu after which
the club adjourned to meet next
week with Mrs. R. N. Fears.
All Gainesville Is rejoicing over
the arrival of the Dentist in the per-
son of Dr. L. M. Mitchell.
Jacksonville Texas March 13. Mr.
Wiley Jordan died March 6 after a
few weeks' illness with pneumonia.
Rev. A. M. Mitchell conducted the
funeral services. Ragsdale under-
taker had charge of the body. Rev.
E. G-. Young P. E. Palestine Dis-
trict preached a soul stirring sermon
at Benson Chapel C. M. E. church
Sunday night Mr. J. R. Lilly made
a business trip to Houston. Prof. L.
