Alderman Kewsom moved that tho
report of the committee be adopted
Aldermau Caldwell said he did not
understand the proposition and would
not vote.
Alderman JNewsom said that the
matter had been made as plain as It
could be aud that as a member of the
soinmlttee he would say they had done
all that they could in the matter.
Alderman McEntyre moved to ara
end the proposition so as to read that
the setting of the hydrants should not
be more thau five hundred feet apart
Alderman Holland thought tlmt an
average of four hundred feet was sufll
clout. He thought they should be gov
erned by the number of buildings on
the street on which the pipes should
be laid.
Alderman Krvay said that they had
u power to amend the Water Works
company's proportion.
Alderman Holland odered a resolui

agree that the hydrants shall uot ex
