Barber Shop Talk

TFLSA (UP)—Many a remark

'Tint it was just the reverse
witli Judge J. A. Denny of Tulsa, j

Telephone Girls Of US Senate Type Bosses
In Catalogue Of Masculine Likes, Dislikes
WASHINGTON (CP) — The I
girls who earn their livings an-!
swering telephones and opening!
mail from members of the Sen-
ate have their bosses all eata- j
logued.
For instance, they're pret-
ty well agreed thai Senator
Scot 1 Lucas, a Democrat
from Illinois, is the most
Tar/.an-iike physique. Lucas
won the leopard-skill award
in a poll conducted among
Senate secretaries by a Wash-
ington newspaper.
The ladies have different ideas
about some of the other senators, j
A majority of them say they'd |
rather not work for Senator 1
Theodore, "The Man" Bilbo of I
Mississippi. Other tough bosses!
include Senators Taft of Ohio i
and formally of Texas.

However, the( Gentleman of
Mississippi. Bilbo, ran second to
Senator Pepper of Georgia in
one department. The girls say
pepper is more long-winded than
Bilbo. But they say they could
do with fewer words from sev-
eral others, too. Langer. for ex-
ample, and Senators Gerry of
Rhode Island and Ellender of
Louisiana.
The most debonair of the Sen-
ators is Millard Tydings of Alary-
land while Republican Kenneth
WlieiTN of Nebraska is consider-
ed the jolliest. Michigan's Arthur
Vandenberg won easily in the
voting for the Senator with the
best speaking voice.
When it came to naming the
most likeable Senator, the girls
generally named their own boss-
es. But Senators Saltonstall of
Massachusetts and O'Mahoiiev of
Wyoming came up with more
than one vote apiece.
And more than 70 per cent of
the women chose Senator Ar-
thur Capper, the 80-year-old Re-
publican from Kansas, as 1 h e
solon most influenced by the soft
words of a glamorous woman.

gas burns while unloading a
ship at the Theodore Naval Am-

Tuesday.
The victims were treated at the

The extent of the gas burns and
conditions of the victims has not
been determined.
