TOWARD ANOTHER HSU WIN.
Returning with several key elements of the team that went to the NCAA Elite Eight in
2006, the Cowgirl soccer team went into the season with high expectations, maybe of
I,,. even reaching the Final Four.
Leading the way were sophomore standouts: All-American goalkeeper Christi Carr and
All-American forward Amy Kuykendall. Carr had a spectacular year and was named
AII-ASC, but the Cowgirls lost any realistic shot at the national title when Kuykendall
went down with a torn anterior-cruciate ligament in the conference opener against Texas
Lutheran.
That injury changed the style of the Cowgirls, from a full-out attacking team that led the
nation in goals the year before, to a defensive-minded team. HSU responded well to the(RSMNHAHRHGE
