Those guys couldn't stand up to the abuse you've
put me through: holding your books, carrying
your lunch tray, you even walked all over me once.
Sometimes I wonder why I take all the abuse.
I really do enjoy the quiet time we spend
together though, looking at pictures, planning
trips, laughing at YouTube videos about flying
squirrels, and telling stories like the time you
spilt honey lemon tea all over me and panicked
because you thought I died.
I don't even mind the other guy from school,
that little geek with the webcam that complains
about anything and everything you do. It was
hilarious when you wrote all over his face and
he thought the aliens had abducted him and left
codes tattooed on his forehead. I worried about
you two for a while, just because he was so shiny
and new, but when I heard you complaining
about how high-maintenance and picky he is,
you should have heard me purr inside.
Look, I'm not asking for much, just a
little recognition every now and then. I still can't
help but freeze up whenever you touch me or
type "I love you," but you can't use, abuse, and
abandon me. I'm not a piece of equipment. I'm
your companion and we need each other. We've69
