Wasiiinotoh June 2 -In view ol the ap-
pearance of yellow fever on ship board at
Havana the Marine hospital oftlulals have
cabled the proper anthorities to examine
the vessels leaving Cubau ports for the
1'nitcd States.

supervising architect's office met lo hear
the statement l'auls'm of the firm of
j'aulaon A Kgan Brooklyn who charged
Hill with unfair treatment touching the
execution ol' the contract by which com-
plainants proposed luruiahing tho Iroa
stairs lor the government building at Aus-
tin Texas. Mr. l'sulson recited the terms
of his contract and charged that the
tirm asked him to protect them
agatnst the unfair treatment or his super-
intendent and that Hill refuted to do so.
l'sulson offered In evidence correspondence
between his linn and Hill and the report
of the government inspector recommend-
ing the deduction ot several hundred dol-
lars lor alleged delects in the work l'sul-
son produced a drawing to show that the
deductions were unwarrantable and not
Justified by the report of Colonel l.owe ol
Hill's ollice who Investigated the matter
slid the firm then charged Hill with re-
taining in ollice au incompetent vicious
superintendent In Hie lace of numerous
complaints incidentally l'atilson claimed
that Hill's superintendent at Austin had
discharged a good workman and hired a
man just released from jail to whmu he
paid lull wagei for no service rendered ex-
cept at his own home.

action in the matter was based upon tne

superintendent.
Hill was asked it he had heard of the

had come up at the lime of the settlement
of this contract but the pay rolls would
settle the question of extravagance. They
would show a man was paid per dav
