Senator Bailey says it is not;
true as reported that he was for:
Colquitt againBt Tom Ball for
governor next year. Senator
Bailey says ordinarily he would
support Colquitt, as according to
custom he is entitled to another
term; but if Ball is a candidate
he would support him as he was
a true friend in Bailey's time of
trouble.
A bill prohibiting the issue of
Federal permits or special license
tax issues of stamps for the sale
of liquor in "dry" states or com-
munities has been introduced in
congress b y Representative
Goodwin of Arkansas.
First Bales at Denton.
The first bale of cotton of the
1911 season for Denton was sold
on the streets late Tuesday af-
ternoon by the owner, D. D.
Watson, to Chas. D. White and
C. S. Buckingham for 12c. The
second bale Was brought
to town Tuesday afternoon by
W. M. Tipp9 of Lloyd. Tne
third and fourth bales were brot
in by I Crawford and Z. R. Bul-
lard of Justin, respectively.—

County School Board
Meeting.
The new County School Board
met Monday afternoon for its
first real business session under
the new law empowering the
boards to classify the rural schools
of the county and to establish
rural high schools. The board
took action on applications from
I Pondor and Pilot Point and in
| accordance with the new law ap-
| proved the applications.
The Ponder school was approv-
ed as a rural high school of the
third class and the Pilot Point as
one of the first olass. In the latter
districts are to be placed the com-
mon school districts of Keleo,
Friendhip, Mustang, Belew and
FairviewNos. 1 and 4. This action
of the board put9 Pilot Point on a
par with the best rural high
schools of the state. It has a de-
partment of Domestic Science
and Arts and a thorough prepar-
atory course in Agriculture al-
ready in addition to the regular
course prescribed for affiliated
schools of the Texas University.
Principals Weisner of Pilot
and Mallory of Ponder were be-
fore the board in regard to the
action.
After a short discussion of the
work over the county, the board
adjourned to Aug. 28 in order to
classify the rural schools of the
other districts of the county,
the law providing for the class-
ification of all schools as primary
intermediate and high schools.
Chairman J. N. Rayzor presid-
ed over the meeting with Supt.
Beaty as ex-officio secretary.
The other members of the board
present were Messrs. J. M. Miller
of Sanger, E. C. Buell of Rian-
oke and J. S. Hays of Little
Elm, B. F. Boner of Aubrey the
j fifth member being unavoidably

Orphans Will Sing
The orphans from theOrphan-
age located in our midst will
come on the square next Monday
afternoon at 3 o'clock, when
they will sing someof their beau-
tiful and touching songs. All
who have heard them sing before
will no doubt be glad to hear
of this. On this occasion a free
will offering will be taken and
the funds thus eecured will be
used to secure clothing or such
other things a9 may be needed
in the Home. A number of Pi-
lot Point ladies have interested
themselves in the children and
the latter will be under their care
on next Monday.

lieves that the children of ths
common school districts of tha
state are entitled to modern, con-
venient and eanitary school-
houses. The Conference there-
fore, desires the active co-opet'-
ation of all friends of education
in the state to assure the con-
struction of buildings that con-
form to the standard requirement
of school architecture. "Good

themselves cost.
