Alfalfa is booming.
Vacation is almost at hand and
the small boy is hilarious.

by an army of huckster wagons.
Collin county is coming to the
front with a bumper wheat crop.

Port Arthur is now in a bottle,
with the .Jap seated on the cork
thereof.—Snap Shots.
Bright crop prospects and sun-
shine combine in wreathing a
broad smile across the counte-
nance of the average farmer seen
in Grand Old Collin these days.
Senator Hoar says this has been
a year of wonders. He has seen a
Judge of the United States Court
impeached; several ofiicialsof the
Postoflicce Department sent to
jail for fraud; a recent high of-
ficial escape prison by grace of
the statute of Imitations; a mem-
ber of the House tind similar
shelter from criminal prosccutiou
and another number convicted of
conspiracy to defraud the gov-
ernment; one seflator of the Uni-
ted States escape judicial punish-
ment through a technicality and
another convicted and sent to
State prison. Things are indeed
looking brighter, — McKinnoy
Democrat.
There is, perhaps, no abler and
cleaner public man than Senator
Hoar. He is a representative of
the best type of the Republican
party, the type which made it
respectable in its early days. He
