Cocke of the Civil War; 4 children:

c) Eliz. (Bettie) Cocke; and
d) Martha (Mattie) Cocke.
4) Nancy McDade married Scurry Foster; 6 children:
a) Norfolk Foster;
b) John Owen Foster;
c) Dora Foster;
d) Eva Foster;
e) Mabel Foster; and
f) Nancy Foster.
5) Majorie McDade married lstly, John Reed, and had Sarah Alice
Reed; and married 2ndly Robert L. Whiddon, and had Thomas W.
Whiddon, Reba Whiddon, and Blanche Whiddon.
This Charles McDade and his brothers, James and John Alex.
McDade, seem to be sons of a John McDade and they may have had
also a brother named Williamson McDade, sometimes just called
William.
Another McDade family which as far as I can tell has not
been established as to what relationship they are to the above
family is as follows:
Alexander McDade married Anna Armstrong. They came to Texas
from Mt. Meigs, Alabama. Mrs. Bonner writes that this was in
or before 1840. The children in their family appear to be
1) John A. McDade--said to have drowned;
2) James W. McDade
3) Eliza McDade (Mrs. Fisher's letter says she married a man
named Harding and had no 3 children.
4) Alex. I. McDade
5) Thomas Sewell McDade married Maggie Bouldin; 6 children:
a) Alexander (Alec or Eckie)--the one who was sick when his
father was shot.
b) Thomas McDade who married Clara Mills and had 3 sons, 1 dau.
c) Maggie McDade who married Walter Keith and had 5 children--
Thomas S. Keith, Pearl Keith, Walter T. Keith, Robert Keith,
and Alex. B. Keith.
d) Pearl McDade who married Dick Cuney and had one son.
e) Robert McDade married Lucy Clarke; 1 son--Rob't. Clarke
McDade.
f) Keet McDade married Lessie Cawthon--no children.
6) Jacob C(obb) McDade, called "Keet") married Ann Cochran. She
married 2ndly James Madison (Matt) Henson. See Cochran Family.
7) Franklin A. McDade.
These families are confusing, but will give some quotes from
the diaries regarding the Texas McDades, as follows:
