MINUTES: LINKS' PLANNING WORKSHOP
DATE: SEPTEMBER 26, 1993
PLACE: LINK DIANNA BURNS' HOME
1. The Meeting was called to order by Link Joan at 9:10 a.m.
2. Link Joan announced that there would be some discussion about
the interpretation of the Bylaws in regards to changes in meeting
dates and the ability to vote on topics of notice. Link Joan also
mentioned the concerns of the executive body in regards to missed
meetings and avoiding extensive discussion and review of issues
already voted on by the body.
3. Link Lillian announced that 3 information sheets would be
circulating: (a) Birthday List (b) Roster Information (c)
Members of the various Facet Committees. Of note is that if you
want or need to changed committees, you must have another Link to
substitute with, and have her express permission to change names.
This is requested in order to keep the number of committee members
stable.
4. Break for Brunch
5. Links Ollie Bryant and Carolyn James passed out the tentative
calendar for Project Lead High Expectations. Assignments for
refreshments for the October 6 Opening Reception were reviewed.
There was also discussion about invitations to Board members, about
whether to have a Board, and about whether the Board should be a
Working or Advisory Board. Link Deborah Crawford presented the
previous Board members' names. Link Carolyn James remarked that
although the Board never met as a Board, they were contacted for
advise and expertise. The subject of whether to have a Board was
tabled for review at the next regular meeting.
5. Links Carolyn and Ollie also requested Facet Chairpersons turn
in their report forms within 2 weeks of a Module activity, along
with vouchers. Questions were answered in regards to times and
general information.
6. Motion by Link Lillian to accept tentative calendar, report and
all recommendations by the PLHE committee. Second by Link Kaye
Bennett.
7. Discussion and review of concerns of ByLaws' recommendations on
voting at a call meeting. The recommendations are that there
should be at least 10 days notice of a meeting change, and that
items for voting should be announced in writing. Link Vernis
suggested that we suspend these rules. After discussion, it was
agreed that these were only recommendations and thus, do not
require a vote for suspension if there are no objections.I L ,
