THE PRESIDENT'S NEWSLETTER
Vol. 1, Number 1 August 1978
Friends in Linkdom:
Friendship is a golden chain
The links are friends so dear,
And like a rare and precious jewel
It's treasured more each year...
It's clasped together firmly
With a love that's deep and true,
And it's rich with happy memories
and fond recollections, too...
Time can't destroy its beauty
For, as long as memory lives,
Years can't erase the pleasure
That the joy of friend ship gives
For, friendship is a priceless gift
That can't be bought or sold,
But to have an understanding friend
Is worth more than gold...
And the golden chain of friendship
Is a strong and blessed tie
Binding kindred hearts together
As the years go passing by.
Helen Steiner Rice
In the tradition of our organization, the National President is the keeper of the flame of love lit by the
founders, the symbol of friendship.
I am quite mindful of the fact that the co-founders, and past national presidents have left us a great
legacy of dynamic, dedicated, devoted leadership. We owe each of them a great deal of gratitude
for their interest and zeal employed in helping attain the success we now enjoy. May I assure you,
that I shall do no less, with your help, to "improve the quality of life by linking leadership and
services to meet the challenge of community and national needs."
Myconstant guide will be Christ; my staff - prayer, the Bible, our Links, Incorporated, documents,
a nd you, each member of the organization. I will earnestly attempt to live this administrative
philosophy -- "Communications, Human Relations, Group Dynamics, Objectivity, Fairness, Friend-
ship -- the standards in Leadership."
Our goals are to carry out the mandates of the Twenty-First Assembly to reevaluate each facet of The Links
and to complete the following internal documents: a) President's Manual; b) Area Directors' Manual;c) Orientation Manual; d) Procedural Manual; e) Personnel Manual; f) Revised Rituals; g) Chapter Program
Booklet; h) Public Relation's Program Pamphlet; i) Revised Constitution-By-Laws; j) History of Links, Inc.;
k) Revised Membership Directory.-- ~C - ~~_ __1__ _ I I
