Wilson .Mrs. Norman Gait and Mrs.
Gait's mother Mrs. W. N. Dolling took
a 200-milo automobile rido today to
Point Lookout Md. on tho Chesapeake
Day. As tho party passed through
Tlidgo Mr. they were greeted by a
farmor band and the entire population
who greeted tho party by tho waving
ot American flags. Tho band was
composed of threo Americans n bass
drum and two horns being the Instru-
ments used. "America" was played
to greet tho party. President Wilson
waved his hat nnd saluted tho crowd.
At ono of tho towns through which
tho party passed tho president got an
Informal reception by an elderly man
who said: "You aro tho first presi-
dent I've seen since Mr. Pierce. Ho
patted mo on tho head way back be-
foro tho Civil War." Many wanted to
shako hands with Mr. GttlL
Shortly after noon tho party stop-
ped by tho roadside and ato a lunch
which had been prepared at tho Whlto
House.
At Point Lookout tho party exam-
ined a large- numbor of graves of Con-
federato soldiers.

and Congressman K. B. McKallar in
the contest for the Democratic nomi-
nation for United Statea Senator. Mr.
McKallar was running second with
Senator Lea slightly behind.
As was expected by many through
out the state the country districts
Kallar showed surprising strength In
East and West Tennessee. He carried
his home county by about 3500 votes
over Patterson.
The former governor on the other
hand according to early figures was
