MOTOR CAR SERVICE TEST.
StteiHo That it be Tried Between
Bryii aod Colleie Over the
Track of the I. & 0. N. .
Editors Bryan Eagle.
Please allow me space to make a
euggestlon anent the Bryan Col lege
trolly line. Owing to the great ex
peneo of building and equipment
and the uncertainty that the ven-
ture will pay operating expeneef
much less attractive dividends 1
wish to submit what appear to ran
to be a feasable plan to give the
matter a practical test at very
little expense.
The I. ifr G. N. railroad company
in noted f.ir its generous and ac
commodaling attitude on all que
tionn of public interest and if
properly approached by a joint
committee from Bryan and Col
lege will I feel quite sure grant a
franchise lo run a motor car over
their tracks for a period of Bay
twelve to eighteen months. Then
let a company l formed with suf-
(icient capital to turrhas a good
substantial up-to-date motor car
and operate it for the pperifiVd
lime. car would reach the
residence portion of Bryan both
went aod north over the railruan
tracks and would over the spur
now being built run up to lh
cnmpuii of the Col lege.
All danger of collisions could b
avoided by requiring the motoi
man to gel orders from the oper-
ators al Bryan and College befoia
leaving those stations. A jul and
equitable divicion of the net earn-
ings could easily be made belweei
i he operating company and th.
railroad company. If at the eim
of the epecitied time the venture
does not promise success th
motor car could be sold for whit i
would bring and dissolve the com-
pany. The dividends even though
email would probably pay al'
losses on the sale of the car second
hand. We would then have dene
onttrated the success or lailure ol
the enterprire at little expense.
Very retried fully
Bobt. F. Smith.
