tha agreement to co-operate mora closely
than heretofore In conserving their common
interests. The meeting was executive and
those present seemed averse to giving out
much about the object of the conference or
tha action taken. Enough was learned
however to authorise the statement that
one of the matters considered was a move
to offset an apparent tendency of the alleg-
ed market enemies of the cotton farmer to
make good their threat to revenge them-
selves on the farmer for putting them out
of business in several States.
THE MARKETS.
Kansas City Mo. May 21 1907.
The quarantine supply last week
was only 87 car loads for the week. Re-
ceipts of natives fell down after Tuesday of
last week and the market began to im-
prove closing the week with a net loss on
quarantines ft em of 10 cents while cows
remained steady. The supply of quaran-
tines is heavier today at 73 cars and the
market steady to strong. Top steers in
quarantine today sold at $5.10 bulk of
steers S4.40 to $5.10 including some light
steers frrm Texas at tha former price. No
grass Tex ant are here today nor none last
week outside of some common 800 lb steers
al 33.50 and cannercows at Cat to $2.80.
Cows sold al $3.23 to $3.73 today bulls
$3.70. On the general market prices'of
bulls and cows are the feature holding up
remarkably well and tha strengthrtikely to
continue till tha advent of grass stuff in
large nnmbers. Unfavorable weather will
make the season for grass stuff from most
of Kansas City's territory twe or three
weeks later than was formerly figu.'wd on.
The food buying power of the country at
large was never greater than now as labor
is universally employed andal good wages
and strong prices seem assured for the pre-
sent. Veal calves seljjn the quarantine
division at $4.75 to $550.
After Thursday of last week hog prices
began to strengthen in spite of the fact
that total supplies aggregated 87500 head
for the week heaviest week since December
1901. The net loss for the week was only
11 cents per cwt. heavy hogs losing mora
than this lights leu. The run is 12000 to
day market steady with tha close of last
week top $6.45 bulk of sales $6.27 1-2 to
$6.40 heavy hogs selling at $6.25 to $6.32
1-2. Considering the heayy supply the
