. A DESERVED PROMOTION.
The many friends In Dryan of Miss
Lottie Stoddard will be glad to learn
that she has received a very deserved
promotion in the public schools of San
Antonio where she has taught for sev
eral sessions. The school board of that
city recognizing ber ability promoted
her to tbe high school and she entered
upon ber new duties Monday.
As announced the charter sub-committee
continued its work last night.
Those in attendance were Ma. L. L.
Mclnnls E. F. Parks A. W. Wilker-
son Robert Armstrong C. E. Jenkins
It. S. Webb end L. M. Hewlt
The reading and discussing of the
charter" draft was continued. The
length of the draft was criticised
some members believing that all mat-
ters of detail should be left to ordi-
nance: others believing that specific
powers of commission should be grant-
ed by charter that the people by their
ballot might pass upon such delegated
powers. As a general proposition the
draft is satisfactory to the committee
as read.
The committee adjourned to meet
Thursday night at 8 o'clock sharp.
