Mall for Germany and Belgium VI
England Nvr Reach

London Aug. 13. (Correspondence
of the Associated lresa.) Thousands
of letter from all part of the
United States addressed to point In
Germany and Belgium are dealt with
by the British censor department
weekly and not one of them reaches
Ita destination. Those which contain
the address of the sender are return'

no such addresa are sent to the dead
letter office to be finally condemned
to the poetofflce furnace.
These letters come chiefly from the
steamer that are taken to Kirkwall
for examination but for some re a

Germany Is often placed aboard
steamer coming directly to England
and a there Is no communication be
tween England and Germany there Is
no way of forwarding It. even ahould
the British government be so Inclined.
Many of these letter contain Amerl
ran bank note being sent by Amerl

doubtless believe to be In flnanrlul

Invariably sends his address so that
the money ran be returned but even
If there I no address every effort Is
made to find the sender. Nothing
however goes on to Germany or Bel
glum.
Thousands of notice of marriage.
Invitation and other social rominun-l
ration are received but aa there Is
no telling whether they may not con

land' enemies they are sent back
by the next outgoing steamer. Ap
parently the only way of getting let
tern from America to Germnny Is to
send them under rover to some
friends In a neutral country with
request to forward them.
Kor Belgium the matter Is further
complicated by the refusal of the Ger
man authorities to allow any letters
to be received In or leave the country.
Only postcard ran reach there ami
the only way of making sure ths
they go l to address them under
rover to the Belgium ronsul In Hol-

and asking that they be forwarded.
