That Jewish Lecture.
Babbl Joseph Krauakopf of
Philadelphia delivered a lecture
in Dallas some days ago on
Tolstoi; the great Ruaaian philos-
opher and novelist. We find it
exceedingly entertaining and full
of notable expressions comine
from a Jew. Babbi Krauakopf is
a very able man sprolound schol-
ar one of the brightest of the Jew-
ish race. xIn this lecture he ranks
Jesus with Moses and speaks of
Him as "a teacher sent from God"
whose influence on mankind will
deepen and broaden as the ages
roll on. He came-not as a meteor
to dazzle awhile and end in noth
.
ingness but as a . planet to shine
lorever. 'l'ne texture ot nis na-
ture "was designed by the Master'
Workman and spun and woven in
jjivinuys worasnop.'
Such were not the expressions
of the Jews regarding Jesus when
he walked amSng men. Then it
was "whv hear ve Him! Hp. hath

race than all the honorable things
combined of all their history ; and
yet they crucified Him "between
two thieves." But these expres-
sions of the profound Itabbi show
tuat mere is progress in the dew -
ish mind. If we mistake not they
show the trend of thought among
the ablest of the Jews. They now
rank Jesus with Moses who in
the Jewish mind is next to God
Himself. The leaven will keep
working and at no very distant
day they will no doubt acknowl-
edge him as the "Alalcha Mesche-
cha theUving Messiah the Sou of
God Ever Blessed." A
large
body of the Jews however will
no doubt hold obdurate to the last. '
According to their own prophets J

except when "he slew them."
We have heard of no denuncia-
tion as yet of Babbi Krauskopf
from the Jewish press for these '
expressions concerning Jesus
home. Now Babbi Jirauskropf is
received with great honor by the
Jews of Philadelphia and Dallas.
The fact is. there is getting to
be among the Jews a very u tired
feeling" deep down in their in-
most hearts when they think of
the long delay in the
coming
of
the Messiah whom they nave been
looking lor some four thousand;
years. Some have reached thet
