The Wesleyan Service Guild No.
of the First Methodist Church
continued its study of the Book
of Isaiah Thursday night in the
home of Mrs. Paul Ball. •y.
Three chapters from the book,
"Isaiah Speaks," were presented,
with Mrs. W. C. McCullough giv-
ing "Isaiah Comforts People After
Exile in Babylon"; Mrs. Dorothy
Marsh,4-"Perplexed People," and
Mrs. George Wood., "God the Lord
of History." '
Mrs. Steve Williamson, presi-
dent, conducted the business meet-
ing and presented a newsletter
from Mrs. ZelmaCook, Texas Con-
ference guild secretary.
Mrs. Evelyn Swallow presented
the devotional, "Have Life More
Abundantly."
Eight of the members announced
that they would -attend the district
guild officers training school at
North End Methodist Church in
Beaumont Sunday.

PARIS — Champagne's sparkle
comes from • pressure of between
5'/j and 6'^ "atmospheres," or
about 65 pounds per square inch.
The bottles, specially constructed
to withstand this pressure, rsrely
explode. The bubbles get there
through entirely natural fermenta-
tion processes, not by b e i n g
"charged" as in the case with
other sparkling wines.

veyor in a meat-packing plant.

powder and salt; stir in the whole
rye flour. Beat egg until foamy;

inches); allbw to stand 20 minutes.
Bake in slow (325 degrees) oven 50
minutes or until cake tester in-
serted in center comes out clean.
Turn out on wire rack; cool. May
be sliced about 1-4-inch thick when
cool or thinner if stored in tightly-
covered container overnight.
