that he was one of her represen
tatives at Anson.

in Abilene today is that of Cap'fc
J. H. Pickens. It is now in our
favorite colors white walls red
roof and green blinds. Every-
one to his choice in colors as well
as other things but if Mrs- Pick-
ens is not delighted with her
home when she returns from
Alabama we shall be much sur-
prised. The Captain got his
painting done with neither a rain
nor dust storm to inferfere and
now dust can be washed off when
it accumulates.

T. H Alexander and Mr. Ken-
nedy went out to Caps last night
and were the guests of Mayor
Oscar Wilson. They went to
get sorghum seed to ship to the
overflow district where it is
wanted to plant for feed crops in
place of the ruined cotton and
corn. They came home full of
enthusiasm over the magnificent
crops out about.the Chapel and

Death has claimed another
victim in our midst this time
selecting a young wife not yot
nineteen years of age leaviug
the young husband heart deso-
lated and her parents mourning
the untimely departure of their
firstborn. Miss Maud Gorhain
daughter of S. F. and Mrs.
Gorham was married to Felix
Kains little more than eightoeu
montlu ago and the young
couple set up. their home with
the brightest prospects for a
long and happy life but last
whiter an untimely cold came
upon the young wife and stub-
bornly held on. Still it was not
thought there was any special
cause for alarm aud up to ten
days or two weee"ks ago they
stUi kept house. At that time
they moved to the wifo's par-
ents to board until returning
strength should enable them to
again go home but ahis! the pale'
horse and his rider were even
then near at hand and the next
day the invalid went to bed to
stay. Today at 1:30 -p. m. the
young spirit winged'her ilight to
the eternal shores there - to
await a reunion with loved par-
ents and thp broken hearted
husband to whom she was so
dear and for whom the sun no
longer shines tho birds have
ceased to sing and flowers no Ion
ger bloom. May He who gave
and hath taken away comfort the
hearts of tho mourners and lead
to that great meeting when all
shall cease to mourn The fun
oral occurs tomorrow at 4 p. m.
from the Methodist church after
which the interment will tako
