WITH THE ALLIED ARMY IN BELGIUM Oct. 19. The al-.
lied forces are relentlessly pursuing' the German troops as far as
the area west of Valenciennes. At this time practically all the
coast; has been cleared of the Germans who are new hastily re-
treating. In their efforts to stay the progress of the allies the Germans
are mow flooding the country. The Germans have also put out
strong rear guards and are blowing lip all bridges but to no avail.
The allies continue their pursuit
Yesterday was a very clear day and the Belgian air forces were
very active. The city of Lille is fast being left behind the advanc-
ing British army. On the Belgian coast the British war ships are
shelling the retreating Germans.
