Casualty Coming
The body of Isham A. Smith
who was the first Brown county
soldier to give up his life over-
- seas in the great war was expect-
ed to arrive in . New York today.
The remains will be taken to
Zephyr for interment which will"
probably occur during next week.
Isham A. Smith "was a son of
P. L. Smith of Brownwood and
died as a result of gassing on
June 14 1917. In his honor the
local post of the American Legion
was named and the members of
the Post are arranging . to attend
and take part in the funeral ser-
vices at Zephyr next week. .

A strong flow of gas was struck
yesterday in the Long well which is
being drilled near Clio. Those in
charge of the well state Uiat indica-
tions of a most satisfactory character
are .increasing now at every foot made
by the drill. The Long weil is at
present attracting considerable atten-
tion visitors from Brownwood and out-
side places going out every day to
view the work at close range. '
