LOS AKGELES-BROWtfWOOD COM-
PANY A JVEW COMBINATION
IN THIS FIELD.
The Los Arigeles-Brownwood Oil
Company with a capitalization of
$250000 has been organized in Los
Angeles by a number of Californians
who had obtained leases on lands in
the north Brown' county oil field and
proposes within ninety days to begin
drilling on its 515 acres which lies in
the vicinity of the producing Kirk-patrick-Lamb
well. The offlcersof the.
company arc: Crichton Smith presi-
dent; Samuel S. McKinney vice pres-
ident; C. C. Loomis secretary; Fred
R. Miner treasurer; w. B. Truslow
Jr. director. Most of these men are
known in local oil circles having vis-
ited Brown county and personally in-
spected the fields adjacent to Brown-
wood. The 515 acres cpntrolled by this
company lies in north Brown county
and the proposed development work
is to be on a tract lying about 500
yards north of the Kirk pat rick-Lamb
well. This territory is generally re-
garded as being in the proven field
production having been found in all
the wells drillcdthere. IA number of
locations by other companies have
been made in neighboring trac'tl. dur-
ing the past few -weeks and a cam-
paign of drilling that will prove of
wide interest will be launched asisoon
as market conditions in the oil indus-
try become a bit more favorable

MUNICIPAL BATHS FOR KIDDIES.
"Munioipal support of the Coggin
playground and park would solve
many of our problems" said James
Hinor Jr. playground' supervisor
Wednesday morning in a discussion
of the playground problems "The
playground needs a number of things
to make it popular and profitable and
it seems that municipal support if the
only means of providing them."
Mr. Hiner said that he had found
that hundreds of people would make
use of the playground facilities if
the park were provided with siiitiblr
lights in the early evening hours
"The hot weather makes it rather un-
pleasant during the daylight liours"
he says "but at present there are no
lights and play in the evening is out
'of the Question. To install and main
tain the lights would miuire a con-
siderable sum each month. The
driveways in the park also require
grading and - maintenance so that
automobiles can travel over them
One car broke a 3pring in a driveway
the other day. A few hours of work
with one of the city's grading ma-
chines would probably put the drive-
ways in good shape.
"We now have tennis court" in lino
condition and the infield of the base-
ball diamond has been worked over
and is smooth and nice for the
Sunday school league games. Our
croquet courts arc in'good shape and
otluirpJay facilities for grown-ups
as well "as the little folks arc ready
for the use of all the people. . The
past day or two. of cooler weather ha
caused a big increase in the crowds
using the play facilities and as the
weather becomes cooler I am swie
hundreds will go to the park every
day..'
