Post Office Helps
Count Livestock
Rural mail carriers from t h e
Wylie Post Office will leave some
livestock survey cards along their
routes beginning November 16.
"Information reported on these
cards is used to set the yearly
inventory of livestock and poultry
on Texas farms," Postmaster
Eldridge explained.
Rural carriers distribute t h e
cards at random in boxes along
their routes.
"This means that not every box
will get a card," Mr. Eldridge
said. "For this reason, it's im-
portant for everyone who gets a
card to return it filled out so
that USDA can get a true sample
of the State's livestock holdings."
Carrier assisting with the sur-
vey is A. E. Harrison, Route 1.
Facts and figures secured in
this survev are the basis for the
Texas and National pig crop re-
port and inventories of livestock
and poultry on farms as of the
; first of the year. Stockmen and
many others use this information
I in making business decisions.
Survey results will be widely
| distributed through Texas Crop
{ and Livestock Reporting Service
i releases, newspapers, farm maga-
zines, radio, and television.
