Citizens For A Progressive
Sachse, an active civic organiza-
tion which celebrated its third an-
niversary earlier this summer, will
be fine tuning its Fallfest Coun-
try Fair participation at its meet-
ing Thursday night at First United
Methodist Church.
"We'll be discussing our Fall-
fest goals and making individual
assignments for the fair, which is
only five weeks away," said Kay
Snipes, CPS project coordinator.
The second annual Fallfest
Country Fair Arts and Crafts
Show is set for Sept. 26 in
Sachse's City Park on Williford
Road.
"If you've been thinking about
joining an organization that con-
tributes to Sachse's betterment,
you really should come to this
CPS meeting. We'd love to have
you visit or, better yet, come to
join," Kay said.
Mayor Larry Holden, a charter
member of CPS, added: "We
had a lot of members and spirited
volunteers working our Fallfest
booths last year and we'll need
the same kind of help this year.
This is a great opportunity to get
involved in your community in a
positive and active way. Every
cent of profit we earn through
Fallfest and our other activities is
pumped directly into projects that
all Sachse citizens can enjoy."
Citizens For A Progressive
Sachse is open to all residents
and meets the third Thursday. For
Sachse's Boy
Scout Troop 12 for the last two
years in its successful fertilizer
sales; a raffle to support Ses-
quicentennial activities in
Sachse; and dunking booth and
beverage concession at the first
Fallfest.

Since its establishment in June
1984, CPS has conducted a vari-
ety of projects to enhance the
quality of life for all Sachse
residents. The civic group's initial
project was to complement
Sachse's first city-wide Clean-Up
Week by organizing a supportive
Green-Up Campaign. In conjunc-
tion with the city's autumn 1984
Clean-Up Campaign. CPS spon-
sored a reduced-price tree sale
for all Sachse citizens.
While residents were cleaning
out their garages and cleaning up
their yards, they were able to add
greenery to their property at
below wholesale prices. The
green-up project was such a suc-
cess. CPS has conducted one
(and sometimes two) every year
since 1984. The next reduced
price tree sale will be this fall.
Other CPS projects have in-
cluded: the recent remodeling of
City Hall and the Police Depart-
ment Building that involved more
than 400 hours of volunteer work
and some $1,000 from CPS's pro-
ject fund to buy paint and build-
ing materials; an extensive city-
wide citizens survey detailing the
positions of Sachse's residents
on a broad range of issues; pro-
viding manpower to clean up
Sachse roadways during the
Clean-Up Campaign; an annual
no-charge Christmas dinner
open to everyone in Sachse;
Tommy Singleton, president
and major shareholder of South-
land Diversified, Inc., is chairman
of the new board of trustees for
Lake Pointe Medical Center at
6800 Scenic Dr. in the Heritage on
the Lake Development in Rowlett,
a project of Singleton's company.
Singleton has been in the real
estate and insurance business for
30 years and has lived in Rock-
wall since 1968.
