Gift of Love Nets New Tradition
Three years ago, Anna Hill of
Sachse Christian Church was
looking for a way to show her love
to God and to the church where
she worshipped. She wanted to
say thanks in a special way for
the strength she found in her faith
since the death of her husband,
She enjoyed fishing and had
found moments of peace and
tranquility in her boat watching
the sun rise and set on Lake Ray
Hubbard. With Good Friday ap-
proaching, she had an idea. Why
not cook a fish dinner for her
friends at Sachse Christian
Church? Of course, the fish was
a symbol used by Christ's earliest
Anna went to the pastor of the
church with her idea and the an-
nouncement was made: There
would be a fish dinner on Good
There was one problem, how-
ever; Anna hadn't caught a single
fish for the promised dinner. But
she was undaunted.
linspired by the story of Jesus
feeding the multitudes with just a
few fish and loaves, she would
proceed on the assumption that
the fish would be there.
Good Friday came and into the
church came Anna with more
than enough fish to feed the
crowd, which included members
of the church and their friends.
Her gift of love was blessed and
brought joy to many.
Anna Hill's first Fish and
Loaves dinner has evolved into a
tradition at Sachse Christian
Church, where there is always
more than enough to eat on
