Because of the response to the
first Garland Preschool PTA
Babysitting Seminar, a second
free seminar will be held from 1
to 4 p.m. Saturday, May 21 at the
Freeman Heights Baptist Church,
1120 N. Garland Ave., for 11-15
year olds.
Topics to be covered are sitters'
etiquette, accident prevention
and safety, infant care, children's
activities, child behavior and
development, handling emergen-
cies, and first aid.
The Garland Preschool PTA is
made up of 140 mothers with
children to 5 years old. Enroll-
ment will be limited, so reserva-
tions should be made early at

CCCC To Hold
Second Commencement
Collin County Community
College will hold its second com-
mencement exercises at 1 p.m.
Saturday, May 14, at the central
campus in McKinney.
Approximately 32 students are
eligible to participate in this
year's ceremony, which will in-
clude December 1987 graduates,
spring graduates, and those who
expect to complete graduation
requirements this summer.
The commencement address
will be given by Dr. Billie Cun-
ingham, CCCC's nomination for
Piper Professor of the Year. Presi-
dent John Anthony will award
degrees. Music for the ceremony
will be provided by CCCC's
music department.
The College will hold the cere-
mony on the front lawn, weather
permitting.

Police Report
Sachse's Police Chief Tom
Fenley reported the following
happenings for April 29-May 5:
April 29: Police filed a report on
a burglary in the 6300 block of
Sachse St. Telephone harass-
ment was reported by a resident
in the 3200 block of Kellie. The
"suspicious persons" in the 4500
block of Bryan Circle were actual-
ly repairmen.
April 30: Shots were possibly
fired in the Hooper/Hwy. 78 area,
but officers were unable to locate
the source. A minor accident oc-
curred in the 7200 block of Hwy.
78: no injuries. Police advised a
person to leave who was in a ve-
hicle parked in the 6100 block of
Billingsley. Police secured an
open gate in the 6100 block of
Sachse St., where residents were
away. They also secured a build-
ing on Bryan. Officers contacted
the reckless driver reported in the
4000 block of Seventh St., and
the problem was corrected. A
suspicious vehicle was reported
in the 5000 block of Alexander,
but police could not locate the
driver.
May 1: SPD took a reckless
driver report on Hwy. 78, but no
contact was made. A medical
emergency in the 2400 block of

ing taken to Garland Memorial
Hospital. Police made a public in-
toxication arrest in the 6600 block
of Hwy. 78.
May 2: Officers placed a
48-hour notice on a vehicle park-
ed in the Alexander/Sixth St.
area. Police gave a warning to
juvenile trespassers in the 3400
block of Sachse Rd. A report was
taken and arrest made on a
domestic disturbance in the 5500
block of Brookview Ct. Another
disturbance was reported in the
3300 block of Seventh St.
May 3: A report was taken on
a theft at a house under construc-
tion in the 7100 block of Sable
Lane. A suspicious vehicle
reported in the 6300 block of
Sachse St. was gone when of-
ficers checked.
May 4: Officers were unable to
locate a possible prowler in the
3500 block of Sachse Rd. A
medical emergency in the 100
block of Cottonwood was
answered and a person was
taken by ambulance to a hospital
A property damage call was
made from the 2800 block of
Fourth St. The property owner
was notified A repossession was
successful in the 3100 block of
Seventh St.
May 5: Harassing phone calls
received on Kellie St. are being
checked out. Officers contacted
a suspicious person reported in
the 6300 block of Murphy Rd
Another suspicious person was
reported in the 3900 block of
Hwy. 78, but police were unable
to locate him.
