Morris County still tops the jobless
rate list in this part of the state with
a June figure of 14.1 percent, that
shows a significant improvement
over last June's 25 percent un-
employment.
Nationally, the unemployment
rate rose slightly from May's 5.1
percent to June's 5.3 percent.
There is normally an upward push
in June as summer jobseekers en-
ter the labor force, so the monthly
rate isn't totally unexpected, Com-
missioner Nabers said. But, some
areas of the state are suffering with
double digit-unemployment rates,
she said.
Job growth was seen in trade,
services and construction areas.
Government declined as schools
and colleges released workers for
the summer months.
