dents who earned a 3.21 to 3.74

What should you do if banks close
Question: My bank has been
taken over by RTC (Resolution
Trust Corporation). I think they are
going to close down. Am I in any
danger?
Answer: No. As long as your
are not over the $100,000.00 limit
you are okay. There is no reason
to panic.
Question: What happens if
they do close?
Answer: Your accounts will be
refunded to you in full. Normally
banks are closed down on a
Friday and checks are processed
over the weekend and mailed the
following Monday or Tuesday.
RTC is very fast about these
refunds.
Question: What do I do when I
receive by RTC checks?
Answer: First, check the
amount on the check to make
sure it is correct. Second, make
sure it is signed. We have seen
several mistakes on these refund
checks. RTC tries hard to get
everything correct but remember
they are processing hundreds or
even thousands of checks in a
short time and mistakes do hap-
pen.
Question: I have C.D.'s paying
8 percent that have not matured.
What happens to them?
Answer: They stop earning in-
terest the day of the shutdown
and are refunded to you. Be sure
you do not have a $100,000.00
C.D. with interest accruing be-
cause the interest or any amount
of money over $100,000.00 will be

in any account, take out enough
money to get back under the
$100,000.00 limit now. Don't wait
to do this or you may be sorry.
Question: When do I get my
money back what do I do with it?
We live on our interest and we
can't make it on present C.D.
rates of 6 percent or less. We
need mt.v income but we can't
take any chances because this is
all we have.
Answer: You still can't beat
U.S. Gov't Agency Bonds for in-
terest and safety. They currently
pay 8.60% and pay each month. If
you have an IRA or a Retirement
Plan, O Coupon FNMA's are now
paying 9'/2 percent.
