First Christian Church of Port Arthur

The First Christian Church of Port Arthur is part of the Disciples of Christ denomination, and have been in Port Arthur since 1904. In addition to the important role they play in there community, the church is known for famous rock star Janis Joplin, who sang with the youth choir in the early 1950s. The church received a Rescuing Texas History grant in 2007 to aid in digitization of their historical materials.
