GONE BUT
FROM PIG
STANDS
TO PORTS O'
CALL
BY JACKIE MCELHANEY
Whether you have lived in Dallas a decade or a lifetime,
you probably recall a particular restaurant that
had something special about it-thefood, the d&cor, the
waitresses, the good times you had there. And you were
disappointed if it closed. Dallas has had a history of
colorful restaurants owned byfamilies who offered their
own distinctive touch that brought customers back time
and again. Many of them are gone now, but they have
left warm memories.
"People with cars
are so crazy they
don't want to get out
of them to eat."4 LEGACIES Spring 2007
