That's because after a
one-year absence the
Lady Mustangs are
returning to the playoffs.

Due to an increase in activities and

as director, there were 39 reg-

Activity Director Dixie
Dickson said. "Now we have
about 253 wonderful seniors."

"The approved bond programs will
allow the city to meet critical infra-
structure needs as it grows and is a big
step in the right direction," he said.
"The sustained progress of the eastern
extension of the President George Bush
Tollway is one of the most important
economic development issues for the
city."
Smith said he gets calls very day
from citizens who are very pleased with
the direction and goals of the Council.
"We developed a solid budget based
on vision and goals, and that budget
will help us reach those specific goals,"
he said. "I believe the city remains in
good economic and financial shape
with a strong outlook."
Smith and Felix both said they
believe the city is proactive in planning
and development to meet the growing
needs of the community.
They referred to voter-approved sale
of $6,130,000 in general obligation
bonds for the purpose of starting the
first of numerous city projects.
The projects will be constructed in
phases with construction scheduled to

Councilman Mark Tinim said there
were many events in 2008 that brought
the community together such as the
Fourth of July parade and fireworks
display, the first Christmas parade, a
successful Fallfest and opening day
sports parade.
"The city also was the host of a suc-
cessful charrette" Timm said. "It
brought people together to openly and
creatively discuss the future develop-
ment of the turnpike district. While the
results were not quite as expected, this
is still a challenge we are working
through."
Timm said some residents may not
mind as they can afford a property tax
rate increase, but not everybody can.
"As a Council we have to be mindful
of all residents as well as ensuring that
any new development is compatible
with existing neighborhoods.
"There are some of the major points
that are coming to light."
('oundlwoman Pat McMillan said
City Hall.
The featured speaker was Justice of
the Peace Gerry Cooper.
Kesa Farrell
said she never
believed in mira-

The Wylie

she was reunited
with her beloved
2-year-old boxer Gracie who had been
missing for nearly nine months.
Gracie was found by Sachse Animal
Control Officer Catherine Munson.
Texas economists are in agreement -
a recession is not in the state's immedi-
ate forecast.
That message was happily received
by the crowd attending May's Sachse
Chamber of Commerce luncheon. The
featured speaker was Fiona Sigalla. an
economist with the Federal Reserve
Bank of Dallas
Emergency Response Team participat-
ed in their first mass casualty drill at the
Garland Fire Training Center.
They were joined by the
Garland and Rowlett
CERT.
All agreed the emphasis
J of the drill was "to learn."
And learn they did.

one of the most significant accomplish-
ments for the city of Sachse in 2008
was to continue to be fiscally sound
during this time of economic uncertain-
ty-
"This was made possible by the hard
work and dedication of our staff and
employees and by being proactive in
our planning," she said. "During 2(X)8
we were able to move forward with the
final preparations for the widening of
Fifth Street The actual construction is
anticipated to begin in early 2009 and
the groundbreaking for the new city
municipal complex is also on schedule
for 2009."
McMillan said City Council goal-
setting sessions focused on needs and
priorities for the next five years.
"The safety of our citizens, mainte-
nance of existing streets and city infra-
structure continue to be top priorities,"
she said.
"Our challenge for 2009 is to accom-
plish maximum work on city projects
with minimum inconvenience to our
citizens."
Police Chief Dennis Veach said
during 2008 the department hired
seven officers and two dispatchers and-
pronioted three sergeants and one lieu-
tenant.

"Are You Suffering from a
Herniated Disc, Degenerative
Disc Disease, Sciatica, or a
Failed Surgery?
59
Dear Friend,
Until recently, there really wasn't much you could do
about these health issues. With the exception of medication
to help alleviate the pain (though the problem still remains,
and often yets worse), or surgery (which has it's own major
drawbacks including pain, recovery time, and no guarantee
of success), there were few options available.
That has all changed!
Thanks to a new therapy called spinal decompression.
herniated discs, degenerative disc disease, sciatica, and
failed surgery can be healed without surgery or medica-
tion and there usually is no pain or recovery time associat-
ed with the therapy!
So if you're suffering from any of the above health prob-
lems, call me within the ne\t 72 hours, and I'll schedule a
FREE consultation for you. I'll find out what's wrong, and
I'll let you know if I can help you!
So right now call me at 972-429-4553. Soon you can be
enjoying life without pain.

Q
lONOMKRS
: \\ hat are ionomers?
/\ . Ionomers are materials
used for filling cavities. Among
their attributes is the fact that
they mimic the color of a tooth,
although the> do not have the
translueence of enamel. Glass
and resin are two different types
of ionomers.
Glass ionomers are made of a
mixture of acrylic acids and fine
glass powders that are used to
fill cavities, particularly those
that are on the roots of teeth.
Glass ionomers can be created
to release a tiny amount of fluo-
ride in the mouths of those peo-
ple who are at high risk for
decay. The dentist, when using a
glass ionomer for a filling, may
not need to remove as much of
the tooth structure as he would
if he was using an amalgam.
Glass ionomers are generally
used to till small areas of decay
and are used usually in areas
that don't need to withstand
heavy chew ing pressure
Resin ionomers are made
from glass fillers with acrylic
acids and acrylic resin. They
also are used in areas that are
not overly stressed by chewing
pressure, generally between the
teeth. Talk with your dentist
about whether glass or resin
ionomers are appropriate to
your treatment
