'Pillow Talk' is theater's next party line
Garland Civic Theatre will present "Pillow Talk" Oct. 7 through
29 at the Granville Arts Center.
"Pillow Talk" is the tale of Jan Morrow, a successful young inte-
rior decorator who is forced to share a party line with a man named
Brad Allen. Brad is so frequently talking to one girl or another that
Jan, in desperation, breaks in on one of his conversations, only to
have Brad accuse her of snooping. This leads to more adventure.
The production will run Friday through Sunday with Thursday
performances Oct. 6 and 13.

Library to offer taste of chocolate
The Smith Public Library will host "Sw.eet 'n' Savory: A
Chocolate Tasting" at 6 p.m. Sept. 22 in the library's new multipur-
pose room. There will be a demo and sample foods that show off
chocolate's versatility, organizers said. The program is presented by
the Piano Central Market Cooking School.
Registration is required.

Vendors, sponsors wanted for Wylie Arts F estival
The third annual Wylie Arts Festival, Christmas Parade and Tree
Lighting is scheduled from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Dec. 3 at Olde City
Park. Applications for fine artists and handmade crafters are being
accepted, and sponsors are needed to support the event.
Vendor applications are available on the city of Wylie website
wylietexas.gov. Applications are reviewed by the selection com-
mittee and notified upon approval.

Wylie win definitely be the
place to be Sept 16 and 17,
when the chamber hosts the
Wylie Championship Rodeo
Mid, Sept 17, Wylie is H.O.P.E.
holds its first-ever Cauntiy Craft
and Vendor Pair.
The rodeo will be held in the
arena behind the P.O.
Birmingham Agriculture Facility
(ag bam) located off Hooper
Road. Tickets to the rodeo will
be sold at the gates only; no pre-
sale. The rodeo starts at 6:30
p.m. both Sept. 16 and 17.
Adult tickets are $10 per
night, children 12 and under and
seniors are $5 per night, and
children 3 and under are free.
There's a special family pack
available; it includes two adults
tickets and two for the kids.
Attendee^ are asked to park in
the visitors' lot at Wylie Stadium
and catch a shuttle to ride to the
rodeo site.
Chamber President Mike
Agnew said this is an event
chamber members begin think-
ing about mid-summer.
"Every year around July, we
pull back on the chamber busi-
ness and switch to rodeo plan-
ning," he said. "It is a long, hot
three months, and we face every-
thing from construction issues,
arena prep issues and logistics to
a good old-fashioned worry
about the mood of Mother
Nature. (Heat, drought, rain and
hurricanes have all played a part
in planning for the pastfour
years.)

away on Friday and Saturday
night as we look at the crowds
of families who come out to
take in the rodeo excitement
and spend a fun evening at a
great community event. The

tribution only, no water or other

Girl Scouts from kinder-
garten through grade 12 are
invited.
Organizers said to bring
"lawn chairs, blankets, picnic
baskets, friends and family" to
meet some of the other Girl
Scouts in the Northeast Texas
area.
There will be crafts, games,
activities and music, they said.
Girls who have not already
signed up for Girl Scouting can
register at the event, organizers
said.
