sored by Methodist

and-answer session before
moving on to another table.
"I believe our guests will

able information to our mem-
bers." Chamber Board
Chairman Linda Gerstner said.
"This type of event is demon-
strative of what the chamber
can do for its members."

white flour.
Students and teachers were
allowed back into the building.
"Every incident is treated as
real." Wortham said. "GISD
has a strict plan with protocols
and procedures. And those
were followed."
About 750 students attend
each school.
GISD officials have not
released the contents of either
package or why those schools
were targeted.
"Under the circumstances,
everything went very smooth-
ly," Police Chief Dennis Veach
said. "All the security and
administrative teams from
Garland and Sachse worked
very well together."
The school district and fed-
eral authorities are continuing
with an investigation.
Special FBI Agent in Charge
Robert E. Casey is requesting
the public's assistance in iden-
tifying the person or persons
responsible for sending the two
letters.
Casey said initial field test-
ing indicated Ihe substance
within the envelopes was not
toxic and there was no threat to
anyone's heal 111 or safety.
"Further laboratory testing is
being done in an effort to iden-
tify the substance within the

envelopes," Casey said. "One
school district employee at
Ethridge School, who had been
exposed to the white powder,
was taken to a local hospital as
precautionary measure."
Casey said sending of threat-
ening or hoax letters containing
a white powder substance is a
violation of Title 18, Section
844 (e) and is punishable for
up to 10 years in prison and a
$250,000 fine for each letter
sent.
Casey has previously stated,
and reminds those who may be
inclined to send a letter with
powder in it, that sending a
hoax letter threatening immi-
nent death and containing
unknown substances is a seri-
ous crime that drains precious,
limited, first responder
resources.
"Today's mailings resulted
in police, fire and hazmat
teams responding to emer-
gency calls in two separate
locations, causing anxiety, dis-
ruption and financial costs," he
