RING WING GLIDER. You need a sheet
of 8L/2-by-l 1-inch construction paper,
two paper clips, and aplastic drinking
straw. Cut two strips of paper: one
lVz-by-ll inches, the other %- by-11
inches. Put paper clips so they point
toward each other. Fold the narrower
strip of paper in half, then make it into
a loop with ends overlapping and slip
it into one of the paper clips. Make a
larger loop of the wider strip and at-
tach it to the other end. With the
smaller loop pointing forward, give
the glider a firm push; it does not re-
quire a throw. Adjust flight path by
making the larger loop bigger or

'FLYING SAUCERS' ADVANCEMENT
CEREMONY. You need a Frisbee for each
boy who will receive an award. Tape each
boy's award to one of the Frisbees. Have a
leader who is good at sailing Frisbees
stand some distance from the Cubmaster
or others presenting advancement
awards. After the Cubmaster has called
forward the award winners and their par-
ents, he calls for the appropriate award
from "outer space" and suddenly a "fly-
ing saucer'' arrives with the boy's award.
AUGUST PACK LEADERS' MEETING.
The pack's adult leaders should meet
about a week before the August pack ac-
tivity to check final plans and to outline
den and pack activities for September. If
the pack's annual program planning
conference for the 1990-91 program year
was not held in July, hold it at this meet-
ing.
Check the pack's membership roster
and make plans to recruit boys and
leaders for the coming program year. If
your pack does not have an affiliated
Tiger Cub group, consider starting one.
