Notes

"Mr. and Mrs. John Garrison Ellis, New Summerfield. He served several terms as the "country lawyer" in the Union Chapel-New Summerfield area, Cherokee County. He was not a lawyer but was a notary public 1907-1918 and Justice of the Peace. Researchers will find many documents on record in Cherokee County written and signed by J. G. Ellis, J. P. or Notary Public. He married Margarette Ann Dotson. They reared eight children on a farm in that area."
