Thou preparest a. table before
me in the presence of mine ene-
mies: thru annointest my head
with oil; my cup runneth over.
Surely goodness and mercy shall
follow me all the days of my life:
and I shall dwell in the house of
the LORD for ever. Pas. 23:5-6
In these verses, David, climbs
to new heights as he tells of God's
goodness and mercy to his chil-
dren.
"Thou preparest a table before
me." It is God who provides a
table of good things, a cup run-
ning over with an abundance of
all that is necessary for our bodily
needs. God also provides spiritual
food for our souls to feast upon.
And surely we all know that if
God does not bestow an abundance
of temporal blessings upon us, it's
our own fault if it isn't made up
to us in spiritual blessings.
"Surely goodness and mercy
shall follow me all the days of
my life." Here Dovid's hope rises
and his faith is strengthened as
he sees all the streams of good-
ness and mercy flowing from the
fountain of God's eternal mercy.
He sees pardoning mercy, pro-
tecting mercy, sustaining mercy,
supplying mercy, continuing mer-
cy. And God's mercy shall be

"new every morning" like the
manna that was given to the
Israelites.
"And I will dwell in the house
of the Lord for ever." Here is
David's promise to God that he
will serve God all the days of
his life and will praise and give
thanks to him for all his good-
ness and mercy each day. nd then
when this life is finished, He will
go to a better world to "dwell in
the house of the Lord for ever.
"O give thanks unto the Lord,
for he is good: for his mercy en-
dureth for ever!"

A beacon of light
Without the guidance of the
lighthouse the sailor would be un-
able to avoid the hidden rocks
and shoals, but when he sets his
course, directed by the light, he
is guided into the desired haven.
What the lighthouse is to the
sailor the Law of the Lord is to
all men who desire to be led into
the way of truth.
Solomon said: "My son, keep
thy father's commandment, and
forsake not the law of thy moth-
er: Bind them continually upon
thine heart, and tie them about
thy neck. When thou goest, it
shall lead thee; when thou sleep-
est, it shall keep thee; and when
thou wakest, it shall talk with
thee. For the commandment is a
lamp; and the law is light; and
reproofs of Instruction are the
way of life" (Prov. 6:20-23).
Recognizing the tremendous im-
portance of the Law, and the light
which It sheds, David exclaimed:
"O how love I thy law! It is my
meditation all the day" (Ps. 19:
97), Continuing, David avowed
that a knowledge of God's com-
mands made him wiser than all
his enemies and the testimony of
the Law gave him understanding
above all his teachers, for the
Law provides knowledge that excels
the wisdom of the ancients. So
David declared, "Thy word is a
lamp unto my feet, and a light
unto my path." Because of the
light shed by the Law of the Lord,
David testified, "I have refrained
my feet from every evil way, that
I might keep thy word, I have
not departed from thy judgements
for thou hast taught me."
When men turn away from the
righteousness of the Law of the
Lord, and refuse to give heed to
the light His Word sheds upon
the truth, they are tossed about
by every wind of doctrine and are
unable to avoid the rocks and
shoals which have wrecked the
lives of millions. When the leaders
of a nation fail in this respect
politically, economically and re-
ligiously, the Ship of State is out
of its course and headed for a
rockbound coast of trouble and
disaster.
The shores of the centuries are
strewn with the wreckage of civil-
izations because of man's refusal
in the past to accept the light of
the Law of the Lord and His
Word as his guide. Our modern
civilization is no exception. Men
are today following the same
course th&t led to disaster in the
past and will again bring destruc-
tion as the raging tempest of
conflicting ideologies of govern-
ment whips the sea of life into
turbulent waves lashed by the
whirling cross-currents of unin-
formed public opinion.
One course alone will bring the
Ship of State into a haven of
rest and that course must be set
according to the direction fur-
nished by the light of truth set
forth in His Word and His Law.
But, in order to steer such a
course, we must have men of
THK CLAttDK NKW8
vision at the helm who conform
with the requirements given in
the instructions outlined to Moses:
"Moreover thou Shalt provide out
of all the people able men, such
as fear God, men of truth, hating
covetousness, and place such over
them" (Ex. 18:21).
Men of that calibre are not in
office today, nor directing the af-
fairs of state, so God's light and
His truth are ignored as our na-
tion continues to steer a course
that departs from the paths of
righteousness
May our people awaken soon to
the need of turning toward the
light so that our nation may be
guided into the harbor where
peace and quiet, under the ad-
ministration of the Law of the
Lord, will prevail.

DO YOU HAVE TO SEE TO BELIEVE?
"Seeing is not believing!"
a young man said in observing
an apparent act of divine heal-
ing as a sick woman was prayed
for. "There must be some plaus-
ible explanation. Perhaps she
wasn't as sick as she thought
she was."
All things are possible with
God, and He is not limited
when it comes to healing a
human body!
The young doubter forgot
that the soul sees and feels v,*\at
the eyes cannot see or feel. We
cannot prove a miracle to those
who do not wish to believe.
But, on the other hand, to
those who do believe, it is not
necessary to prove an act of
divine healing from God.
Do miracles still happen to-
day as they did in Bible days?
They do!
Here is a miracle: Mr. Ef-
raim, of New York State, con-
tacted malaria while in the
armed services during World
War II. After being discharged
he was bothered with recurring
attacks of the disease fre-
quently. , y
"My attacks became more
numerous and so severe that
my doctors gave little hope that
I'd ever fully recover," he told
me. "But I had faith in God. I
felt He could purge my body
of this ailment.
"I prayed earnestly. God met
my faith. I felt the power of
God go through my body aftei
prayer one evening! Now, three
years later, I have not had a
single recurring attack of ma-
laria. My doctors tell me they
cannot understand this, because
I had been having the attacks
so frequently for years. My past
record showed my malarial con-
dition so severe as to be in-
curable.
"But today, I am in good
health and have no attacks.
God healed me. It's a mirade.
I give God the credit!"
Yes, God does have the
power to heal. The same power
which Jesus used in healing the
sick almost 2,000 years ago is
the same power that He uses
today!
You must learn to look with
your faith. The soul and heart
see what the eyes cannot see.
